BARCELONA OFFER SWAP DEAL FOR ADEBAYOR

Barcelona are offering Samuel Eto'o in part-exchange for Arsenal striker Emmanuel Adebayor.

The Daily Star says Barca will this week offer Eto'o plus £15m to Arsenal in a final attempt to lure Adebayor to the Nou Camp.

Barca chiefs dumped Eto'o from their plans for next season but have since failed to shift the striker they rate at £25m.

Without cash from an Eto'o sale, they can't find the £35m Arsenal want for Togo hitman Adebayor.

So with just three weeks to go before they have to register their Champions League squad with UEFA, they will offer Eto'o plus cash for Arsenal ace Emmanuel Adebayor.

Arsenal alerted as Roque Santa Cruz wants to leave Blackburn Rovers.

The Guardian says Santa Cruz has told Paul Ince, his new manager at Blackburn Rovers, that he wants to leave for a bigger club, which has alerted Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur, both of whom are planning for next season without their existing lead strikers.

Aston Villa boss Martin O'Neill has confirmed interest from Arsenal for Gareth Barry.

Liverpool have been battling to settle a fee with Villa for Barry and O'Neill revealed: "Myself and Steve Walford both know Arsene Wenger's assistant Pat Rice.

"He phoned Steve to ask how the Liverpool thing had gone and said that they might show an interest.

"At the end of the conversation Arsenal said 'that's fine' and that they'll let us know. That is exactly what happened."

Wenger is rumoured to be lining up a player-plus-cash offer of his own to land Barry, with Arsenal defender Justin Hoyte set to be used as bait.

Arsenal director Danny Fiszman has defended the decision to increase the price of season tickets at the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal have opted to raise the cost of their cheapest season ticket from £885 to £925 for next season after a four-year freeze.

The 4.5% hike means they are £275 more expensive than the next highest club, Liverpool.

"We've held the prices for four years but there is substantial inflation in football," he told Arsenal TV Online.

"Rather than keep holding prices back and then having a huge increase, we think it's better to have a small, steady increase rather than a big jump.

"Quite often there are comparisons made about the prices of our season tickets and we seem to be expensive.

"But in terms of comparison it's never apples for apples. Our season tickets include cup and Champions League games, which other competing clubs in London charge extra for.

"In fact they charge a premium for them. Our prices should be judged in that way rather than on the pure top line number."

While Emirates Stadium also helps break A new Guinness World Record that was set on Friday July 11th for the longest game of Chinese Whispers involving 1,330 children and celebrities from the world of sport and entertainment. Staged at Arsenal Football Club’s Emirates Stadium, the record breaking children raised more than £100,000 for Save the Children and Arsenal’s Charity of the Season, TreeHouse, the national charity for autism education.

Carlos Vela admits Arsenal teammate Cesc Fabregas is his idol.

He told Notimex: "Spain was a just winner of Euro 2008 and Cesc Fabregas was sensational. For me he is my idol and it will be a great experience to work next to him in the squad.

"I hope he will help me in the first months."

Carlos Vela also declared that he wants to be Arsenal's "warrior".

"I have a lot of character and pride as a footballer and I am not arriving scared of The Premier League.

"I want to be a warrior for The Gunners.

"I am a humble person and I will arrive at Arsenal to learn and help the team. I am very happy for this opportunity and I do not want to fail.

"My stay in Spain was key to make the jump to The Premier League. Now I am more mature and strong on the pitch.

"For me, Spain and England are the best leagues in the world. Now I hope to apply my experiences to Arsenal.

"My mission is to work, train hard and fight for a place in the squad. I know that is not easy but the season is long and I will have chances."
