ADEBAYOR BACK FOR PRE-SEASON

Arsene Wenger expects striker Emmanuel Adebayor to turn up for Arsenal pre-season training on Monday.

Togo striker Adebayor has made it clear through comments in the media that he wants an improved deal.

Wenger told Sky Sports News: "Adebayor is under contract and we expect him to turn up on Monday and practice with us."

Arsenal's injured midfielder Tomas Rosicky has confirmed he will miss the start of the new Premier League season.

The Czech Republic ace, who missed out on Euro 2008 through injury, underwent a knee operation in May after missing much of the season half of last term.

Rosicky needs more time to recover fully from the injury and now hopes to return in September.
The Gunners will complete their preparations for the new season with an appearance at the Amsterdam Tournament ahead of the Champions League qualifier on August 12/13.

Arsenal have confirmed their third signing of the summer, young French midfielder Francis Coquelin.

Coquelin has joined the club from French third division side Laval.

The 17 year old impressed during a trial with Arsenal last season and had been expected to sign during the last two months.

He passed a medical back in May but his signing was only officially announced by the Gunners on Friday.

"Arsenal have signed French midfield player Francis Coquelin on professional terms," the club's official website announced.

"The 17-year-old has joined from SASP Stade Lavallois Mayeene MFC."

Arsenal are set to reward teenager Jack Wilshere with a lengthy contract once he turns 17.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger hinted at the time that the 16-year-old was destined for first-team football in the very near future, leading to suggestions that England had found their answer to Cesc Fabregas.

And News of the World reports that the Gunners will tie Wilshere down at the start of January, when the young midfielder will turn 17 and can legally sign his first professional contract.

Arsene Wenger has told setantasports.com he is ready to buck his well-established trend and recruit an experienced figure this summer.

The Frenchman remains a master operator in the transfer market and his success in developing young talent is legendary, but it appears he is now ready to sign arguably his first well-established player since William Gallas in 2006 - with reports naming the likes of Gareth Barry, Xabi Alonso and Torsten Frings as potential targets.

"We lost players with experience of course," said Wenger following his side's 2-1 win over Barnet at Underhill on Saturday. Simpson and Barazite scored for Arsenal while Gillet scored for Barnet. Arsenal new signing Aaron Ramsey and Francis Coquelin also played on Saturday.

"But we can still bring in players with experience and don't forget that last year, since the first of January, Van Persie has missed nearly six months, Rosicky has missed four or five months and Eduardo has missed four or five months, they will all be back."

When asked by setantasports.com whether Gunners fans can expect to see a more mature player arriving at Emirates Stadium, Wenger replied: "What do you call old? Yes 25 (and over) is very old at Arsenal! We can get one player with experience, yes."

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger admits he took great "satisfaction" winning the race for former Cardiff City midfielder Aaron Ramsey.

"I think in the future he will be a central midfielder," said Wenger. "How is down to him and down to us on how well we work with him.

"In my mind though there are no restrictions on his development because he has played a lot already."

Wenger also told the club's official magazine, Arsenal, of his joy at capturing the Caerphilly-born youngster who attracted interest from a host of Premier League clubs.

"We watched him throughout the whole season," said Wenger.

"We were always on the case, but unfortunately we weren't the only ones because Liverpool, Man United and Everton were strongly behind the case.

"It was a big satisfaction for us that we were able to beat these teams to signing him."
