According to reports in Italy, AC Milan will sign Emmanuel Adebayor for £24m plus France Under-21 international Yoann Gourcuff.
Arsene Wenger has been tracking Gourcuff for some time and was left bitterly disappointed when the talented playmaker rejected a move to Arsenal in 2006, leaving Rennes for Milan instead.
The Rossoneri claimed to have received a letter from Arsenal saying that they were now prepared to discuss a deal for Emmanuel Adebayor.
This was later followed by a statement from the Arsenal chairman, Peter Hill-Wood, insisting that the Londoners were hoping to keep Emmanuel Adebayor.
Yoann Gourcuff joined Milan in 2006, and was regarded as one of the best young talents in Europe. However, since his move to the San Siro, Gourcuff has struggled to break into the first team, playing just 21 times last season and finding himself confined to the substitutes bench this campaign.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is a huge admirer of the 22 year old midfielder, and it seems the inclusion of Gourcuff in the deal has swayed him to accept Milan's offer.
Milan general manager Adriano Galliani is said to be hopeful of completing the transfer by next Wednesday (July 16).
Leicester City boss Nigel Pearson has completed the signing of Kerrea Gilbert on a season-long loan deal from Arsenal.
The 21-year-old defender previously worked with Pearson at England youth level.
"I have worked with Kerrea before and he is a fighter and a winner," said Pearson.
"He is strong in the tackle and athletic and we will only benefit from his arrival. I am looking forward to working with him on the training ground."
Bacary Sagna admits he's still coming to terms with last season's dramatic collapse by Arsenal.
Sagna said: "There is no point in planning ahead for next March because we cannot be certain that we will still be in the hunt for the title by then.
"Obviously, we all have regrets about last season and are hoping to improve on third place.
"But we need to learn from those lessons and that is why I don't think it is a good idea to set ourselves a definite target for the new season."
Sagna, who missed the final two months of the season after suffering an ankle injury in March, said: "I started training again last week, a few days before everyone else, just to get back into the rhythm.
"I am already able to do some work with a ball and, all being well, I should be ready for the start of the season."
